The end of the year is as good of time as Thanksgiving to thank my sponsors for making 2012 work out for me. I mean, really, it started off with a horrible accident, and ended awesome.
First, I can’t believe I haven’t shard this yet. Here is my daughter, Scout. She was born on the 18th and, so far as I can tell, she likes the rod I built her.
She’s pretty awesome. Of course, she does take after her mom, so that has helped her awesomeness…
So, back to where I started. I have to thank some awesome folks.
First, NRS. They came to me having noticed that I used (abused and loved) their gear. We’ve hung out some at shows, written articles, shared videos and photos. NRS makes the best kayaking gear on the market. They keep me warm. They keep me dry. They keep me alive. They keep me safe. Thank you, NRS!
Jackson Kayak was like a god-send. After trying out the Cuda and the Coosa, and having one of the awesomest days of the year up on the Hood River, they extended a sponsorship offer. Jackson was a god-send as they came to me shortly after I lost two of my kayaks on the freeway. Having spent some time on the water and thoroughly enjoying their kayaks, I knew we were a great fit. Thank you, Jackson Kayaks.
Two years ago, at ICAST, I fell in love with a couple jigs from PK Lures. They were, and still are, in prototype phase, but, damn, they are sexy jigs. They’re also insanely effective. This year I was able to partner with PK Lures and learned a lot more about their products and company. They are great guys and they’re all much better fishermen than I am. Thank you, PK Lures
This year I was also able to partner up with my friends over at Green Tackle. Fishing lead-free gear is important to me. Now, this isn’t always possible, especially with the big saltwater stuff, but whenever I can I reach for jigs from Green Tackle for bass, crappie, steelhead, shad and more. Thank you, Green Tackle!
I also have a to give a few more shout outs. These are some folks that I’ve had too much fun hanging out with, people that helped me out a ton, and otherwise are just good folks to know.
Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe, Outer Escape, Diablo Paddlesports, Kayak Shed, Fikkes Fly Hiker, YakAngler, Kayak Fishing Radio, Recycled Fish, Sawyer Paddles and Oars, Soul River Runs Deep, Jason Self, “Redfish” Chuck Levi, Jose “Pepi” Vidal, and Dennis Spike.
Of course, the most thanks of all has to go to my wife, Jewel, for putting up with all this kayak fishing nonsense.
