It’s amazing what happens. You have a baby and then time starts moving way too fast. Here we are almost 6 weeks into the year and I haven’t even fished. I don’t even have my fishing license yet. Wait, yes, I did fish. I almost forgot the 1 hour of fishing time I managed to get in while down in California. Yep, one hour. I spent more time than that tying flies to fish with in CA, and about that much time trying to get someone at Dick’s Sporting Goods to get me setup with a fishing license.

Fishing will happen though. Soon. I’m missing out on some killer action right now on the Sandy. I should be there now. I should have been there all week.

I did hit up the Pacific NW Sportsman Show yesterday. All in all, it was pretty much all the same thing, though it was cool to meet up with Kayak Shed and Fikkes. I brought Scout with me, which was a lot of fun. I don’t think there was a single person that didn’t smile when they saw some guy with his 7 week old daughter strapped to his chest, walking around the show. I tried to get her onto her first trout in the trout pond, but we got chased out by some angry old lady that said it was unfair…

I’ve been spending more time at the vise lately too. Been working on a few things that I think will be great on the salt this year. They’re not perfect by any means, but in Oregon, they should be ugly. No matter how much epoxy I put on them, they’ll only be good for a couple fish.

This is essentially a giant Clouser. 10" long and wrapped with kevlar.

Tomorrow is the Fly Fishing Film Tour (F3T) stop in Portland. They have two showtimes this year, which is awesome. They didn’t send me a media kit this year, like they did last year, which isn’t awesome. Oh well.

Guess that’s about all! Time to get this year’s license and hit the water….

I can relate to that. As soon as the kids come, time zips by, and fishing is on the back burner.

I to don’t have my license yet for the year (thanks for the reminder!).

I’m a little jealous you guys can fly fish in the NW this time of year. Here in the NE you can do it, but it’s pretty dang cold.
